'The Authorized Biography' - these words made my expectations sky-high.

Notes of a Dream: The Authorized Biography of A.R. Rahman.

(And man, look at the size of the book, wide and thick). However somewhere the experience is not as promising as it looked. Krishna Trilok's debut outing with this biographical work, is something that makes you feel, ah the wait for that perfect biography is still on.

In four sections the chapters are discussed. Beginnings, Metamorphoses, The World Beckons and Believer. But the flow of the tale does not follow linear discussion. As regular works generally goes.

What we get instead is, a great amount of discussion in initial pages, about - the film 99 songs ! And the movie comes here and there many times throughout the book, despite the fact the movie was in the works while the book was being written (and no, not that it has won accolades or an Oscar).
