        5. These works are often said to mark the beginnings of a truly virtuosic piano style, through their use of the full possibilities of the pianoforte, a new instrument at the time.

          Clementi's visionary work and success as a promoter of the piano throughout his 50 years of career as performer, composer, publisher, teacher, arranger, and instrument maker, brought him the honour of being called the 'father of the pianoforte'.

          He was buried in Westminster Abbey (see below).
